Chris Kiklas is Group Vice President and General Manager of UKG Ready, UKG’s HR, payroll, and workforce platform for small and mid-market businesses — a multi-hundred-million-dollar business built for companies where nobody has just one job. He writes and speaks on why the 75-to-1,500-employee band is its own discipline, on delegating ownership rather than tasks, and on culture as something designed, not inherited. Previously he was President of workforce scheduling company EmLogis, where he built out its Asian subsidiary. He leads Landmark Worldwide’s Wisdom course and serves on two nonprofit and advisory boards. He lives in Houston, Texas.
Chris Kiklas is Group Vice President and General Manager of UKG Ready, UKG’s HR, payroll, and workforce management platform for small and mid-market businesses. He owns the business end to end — a multi-hundred-million-dollar P&L serving companies of roughly 75 to 1,500 employees, the band where payroll, onboarding, and compliance are all handled by the same lean team.
That band is the center of his public argument: small and mid-market businesses are not scaled-down enterprises, and building software, advice, or org charts for them as if they were is why so much of it fails. His writing and speaking take positions on that discipline and on leadership itself — delegating ownership rather than tasks, reading engagement data as a mirror on leader behavior, and treating culture as something designed rather than inherited.
Chris got to general management the long way. He was President of EmLogis, a workforce scheduling company, where he built out its subsidiary in Asia; before that he worked across services, support, and operations, and earlier did business intelligence work at Attachmate, NetIQ, and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Outside the day job, he leads the Wisdom course at Landmark Worldwide, the source of the no-blame, systems-first philosophy that runs through his leadership writing. He serves on the boards of Guidepost Consulting and Sky Ryders Arts & Education. He is based in Houston, Texas. Headshots and contact details are available at chriskiklas.com/press.
